Great Yarmouth is a diverse borough, with a dynamic economy, hosting
significant cultural and heritage assets of which Great Yarmouth Borough
Council has immense pride.
We are looking for a motivated and highly organised individual to refresh
and deliver out an Activity Plan for the Venetian Waterways and Boating Lake in
Great Yarmouth. The project is a £2.7 million scheme, supported by the Heritage
Fund and Big Lottery, which will see the restoration and celebration of the
nationally unique Grade II listed park (Historic Parks and Garden Register)
dating to 1926-1928.
The project is nearing the completion to restore the floriferous and
eccentric character of the park which was designed as a relief programme for
the unemployed following the First World War. There is a significant focus on
community participation within the project, with a variety of training and
volunteering opportunities contributing to the continued restoration,
maintenance and interpretation of the park. The project will largely be
undertaken by local volunteers and will improve community resilience, well being
and employability, acting as a catalyst for regeneration within the borough.
They will design and deliver a comprehensive programme of community
engagement activities, ensuring the activity plan deadlines are met on time and
within budget. Working with a variety of partners in order to deliver training,
engagement and a multitude of community activities, the candidate will be
flexible, but show strong initiative to achieve the outcomes of the project.
The successful candidate will need to be:
·
Able to effectively support complex heritage focused projects and
budgets, monitoring and managing programmes of activity, and ensuring the
outcomes are achieved as forecast
·
An inspiring leader who is able to develop and deliver community
engagement and learning activities
·
A forward planner, identifying and aligning a range of new and existing
resources to complement and build upon a comprehensive volunteer and training
programme which will contribute towards the continued restoration, maintenance
and interpretation of the Venetian Waterways and Boating Lake.
·
Reflective on the success of initiatives and activities, having the
ability to make future changes accordingly
·
Knowledgeable and experienced in the management of budgets, problem
solving and meeting deadlines
·
Flexible and creative in working with people of all ages and backgrounds
·
Knowledgeable and experienced in the delivery of partnership schemes and
managing complex relationships
